Accent Inn Hotel Review for those visiting Victoria

I was hoping my experience here would be far better than at the one night I had to stay at Comfort Inn by Vancouver Airport since my plane from Phoenix didn't get in till 11pm, too late to catch the Ferry to Victoria.

First the airport pickup bus never arrived. Another couple and I waited 45 minutes. We both had called the hotel and they assured us it would be there soon. We finally gave up and took a cab. The hotel did pay for it!

Then the first room I had the key would not open the door. Even the managers master key card didn't work. The next room was freezing cold and heater would not come on. The Asian manager was very apologetic and the third room was fine...a bit small.. but fine for just one night.

The Accent Inn in Victoria is WONDERFUL! A little higher priced ($CAN69-71)than Travellers Inns or Red Lion but much larger and a better laid out room except for the bed being right by the door.  But since almost all my activites were incall, I like the larger room not the bed placement.  I even have Kitchenette and microwave (by request) comfortable large couch, and chairs. Best of all a nice large table with ... even a phone and a double wall jack for phone with extra outlet so I don't have to disconnect phone to hook up phone line for computer modem. And I don't have to use my 20 foot phone extension chord to play "string around the room" from the usually only phone that is by the bed!

For AC power for laptop however, no outlet on desk side of room however I tapped off the microwave electric outlet in TV Center next to desk for AC power. I am going to try and remember to take some pictures of room for updated report on website.

Location is great very close to many of the incalls. Downtown isn't that far away and nice Braennigans restaurant attached to hotel. And the heat works great :) As does my Maxima car from National.

For a dial up I am very happy with Interpass.com (update out of business). It is like I had in Thailand where you buy a package of 25 hours at a time for about $CAN20 instead of having to sign up with a local ISP for one month when only in town a week. You can buy time at many retail outlets in Canada (and U.S.) and it has great coverage for all of Canada. Time has to be used within 1 year. I am getting great 50.6 dial up connection. My dsl in Phoenix of course is better but when I use my laptop at home I only get a 26k dial up connection! But am getting cable connection installed day after I return to Phoenix.
